UK Director at Islamic Relief

Tufail Hussain became the Director of Islamic Relief UK in July 2019. Moved by a number of humanitarian crises across the world, Tufail launched a career in the humanitarian field to help serve people in need. He is also passionate about empowering disadvantaged youth in the UK and strengthening engagement between British Muslims and wider society. Prior to his role as UK Director, Tufail worked as Deputy UK Director, Head of Fundraising. Before joining Islamic Relief in 2016, Tufail worked in a range of senior roles across the sector. As Chief Executive Officer at Orphans in need, he helped to establish strong governance, global offices and new projects, whilst also helping the charity’s income grow from £2 million to over £9 million in the three years under his leadership. Throughout his career, Tufail has travelled extensively around the world raising awareness of major emergencies such as the East Africa drought, Pakistan floods and the Syrian crisis. In addition to his role at IRUK, Tufail also serves as a Trustee at the Muslim Charities Forum (MCF) and is a father of six wonderful children. A sports enthusiast and passionate Liverpool supporter, Tufail lives a very active lifestyle having run the London Marathon twice raising over £35,000 for humanitarian causes.
